The Xboard 61 from E-mu is a 61-key, velocity sensitive USB/MIDI controller keyboard with aftertouch, featuring sixteen real-time parameter rotary encoders, along with sixteen patch select/program change buttons. Xboard Control editing software, and a full version of E-mu's Proteus X v 1.5 desktop sound module are included, the later bundled with over 3GB of sounds.
The Xboard Control for Mac and Windows provides an intuitive desktop interface that allows the user to effortlessly create custom templates for their hardware and software instruments. Steinberg's Cubase LE audio/MIDI recording/editing software, also for Mac and Windows, means that music making can proceed immediately without having to buy additional software.
The controller provides four control zones, each with its own key and velocity ranges. The unit also allows the user to set a discrete MIDI channel for each knob, and includes a "Snap Shot" feature that can send multiple program changes and controller values with the press of a single button. A "Latch Mode" provides for defining a section of the keyboard as on/off triggers, perfect for drum loops.
